One person commented on a post shared by Eamonn: "I'm really disappointed too in the recent behaviour and unnecessary comments.

"Contributing to the persecution of another person, I don’t feel a vote is really deserved at the minute."

But he replied in a now deleted comment: "I'm sorry you have difficulty in understanding who was persecuted."

A source said: “Everyone feels sympathetic to Holly and there will definitely be a few nerves on set on Monday morning.

“Everyone is anxious for her return to the show to go well, but crew will do their best to make her welcome.

“Holly is clearly feeling anxious about things, but at the same time she’s determined to address it.”

Jason Gardiner weighs in on Phil scandal

Holly Willoughby began to change from the “down to earth” girl Jason first knew as she became “Brand Holly”, he says.

Jason, who worked alongside presenter Holly, 42, on Dancing On Ice from its launch in 2006, said: “When we started out she was very friendly, didn’t have anyone working with her.

“But on the last series I was on she had a team of about eight people in an entourage following everywhere she went. She became ‘Brand Holly’.

“I didn’t know her any more.”

When Jason left in 2019 he was devastated when the rest of the cast, with the exception of Ashley Banjo, failed to get in touch with him.

He said of Holly: “We were good, friendly colleagues. We would always have a giggle behind the scenes.

“We had a good rapport. Enough that she could at least say, ‘Hey, I know it’s been a bit rough. Are you OK?’. But I got nothing. It made me feel disposable.”
