Alex, 38, had presented both series of the programme which aired in an afternoon slot on BBC One.

It saw eight players battled it out on the Tournament Run as they took part in a series of tug-of-war quiz matches.

The aim of the game was to knock their opponents out and steal their cash prize.

But TVZone has reported the programme won't be back for a third instalment as bosses free up space in the schedules.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the BBC said: “The Tournament had two great series but we need to make room for new opportunities.

"We'd like to thank Alex and the team for all their hard work.”

Meanwhile, former Arsenal player-turned-telly pundit Alex isn't stuck for jobs and has become the latest brand ambassador for cosmetics company .

Alex said she took the job partly due to the firm’s green credentials.

She explained: “I’ve been a big fan for many years.

"Not just because the formulas are effective but also because of the brand’s commitment to the environment and tackling issues like sustainability.”

Last year Holly and Davina, who are also brand ambassadors, were in Paris for a Garnier event.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the BBC said: “The Tournament had two great series but we need to make room for new opportunities."
