Lola was forced to quit her job

It left fans in tears

During Wednesday’s edition of the programme, Lola was forced to quit her beloved job at the hair salon as her deteriorating health took over.

Her brain tumour has begun to slow her down and despite aiming to remain positive, she felt it was the right decision to walk away from her job in order to cherish her last moments.

Although desperate to continue, she confided in Denise Fox that she could no longer do what was required of her and therefore was left with no option but to quit for good.

Denise reassured the young mother and told her that she would be by her side during her final few weeks of living on Albert Square.

In a bid to keep spirits high, Denise told her they would organise a huge leaving party after being a highly valued member of the team.

Fans could not help but weep at the scenes as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts and express their sympathies towards the ailing Lola.

One fan said: “That was heartbreaking to see Lola’s reaction to her thinking about missing the big milestones in Lexi’s life.”

Another added: “Poor Lola I can’t believe that she’s dying soon.”

A third sobbed: “Poor Lola having to stop working and doing something she loves has truly broken my heart. Billy has just be bragging with how much money he made in Portugal, why can’t he cover cost and help her?!”

While someone else was left overcome with emotion as they penned: “Lola saying ‘see you in 7 weeks’ to a customer when she probably won’t be alive.”

EastEnders airs Monday-Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
