Lucy recorded the clip as part of a paid advert for Primark and Sushi can be seen giving Sonny's face a gentle sniff as the tot modelled baby clothes from the high street chain.

But writing in the comments section, one of the star's followers couldn't help but slam 27-year-old Lucy over the footage.

The woman wrote: "I don't get ppl letting dogs lick their babies.

"Everyone is like 'don't kiss my baby' and your out here letting dogs lick them? How is that not worse???"

With a green-faced emoji, she added: "It's just the thought of the dog licking it's bits and then licking my newborns face for me."

Lucy was unimpressed with the reply - and was quick to point out that her Pomeranian does not "lick" Sonny in the footage.

She hit back: "She actually didn’t even touch him though did she :/? If you just watch again x."

Lucy - best known for playing Corrie's Bethany Platt -and her footballer beau Ryan Ledson, 25, welcomed Sonny into the world in January.

The actress conceived their son after suffering a miscarriage and the devastating experience made the pregnancy all the more emotional.

She later told : “It’s been a roller-coaster of high and low moments, with lots of tears along the way.

"When Sonny was finally born, we were both sobbing – but happy tears.”

Despite the euphoria at Sonny's arrival, Lucy had her first experience of mum-shaming just five weeks after giving birth.

In another paid sponsorship post on social media, she said she was using the Natural Cycles contraceptive app to "prevent pregnancy naturally", as she tried to forgo medical interventions like the Pill or the Coil.

However, fans weren't so sure it was wise for the new mum, insisting that new mums can often be more fertile in the weeks after giving birth.

"Be careful I know a few people who have got pregnant using this app!" one warned Lucy.

Meanwhile, Lucy has shown her devotion to her baby son by having a tattoo inked on to her arm in honour of him.
