BBC EastEnders ‘confirms’ when legendary character will return to Albert Square
EASTENDERS has appeared to 'confirm' when Sam Mitchell will make her return to Albert Square.
In recent scenes viewers watched as the sister of Phil and Grant departed Walford.
After returning to her role as Sam Mitchell following a 17-year break Kim Medcalf departed in April.
But BBC bosses have said it's not the end of the character and she will be back in the next few months.
They've teased she will spend "most of the summer" in Spain, meaning she'll likely return in September or October.
Sam left to take up a job in a hotel in order to support her son Ricky who is soon to become a teenage dad.

While he was left devastated and angry about his mother's departure, the pair shared a heartfelt goodbye before Sam's taxi drove her away.
Kim's character was mentioned during Monday's visit to EastEnders after Denise Fox revealed she received a call from Sam.
Speaking to her sister Kim, Denise said how "she's staying in Spain" as the hotel "desperately" needed her.
Sam Mitchell's character was originally portrayed by Danniella Westbrook.
In 2001, it was announced that Medcalf would take over the role of Sam Mitchell from Danniella Westbrook.
Her first ever scene on the show was in Spain with Barbara Windsor, which aired in January 2002.
In 2005, after three years on the soap opera, she decided to leave.
Her final scene was filmed in September 2005, where he character escaped imprisonment as an accessory to the murder of Den Watts and left to join her brother in Brazil.
The role was once again given to Westbrook in 2009, with producer Diederick Santer wanting to bring the original actress back.
