Sadly, the Walford residents will soon have more mourning to do, as Lola Pearce loses her battle with cancer.

Lola - played by Danielle Harold - was diagnosed with a brain tumour back in November.

EastEnders fans have been wondering how much longer the character has left, as she tries to make the most of her life with new husband Jay Brown and daughter Lexi.

But it seems time will run out for Lola in the very near future, as the cast have started to film her funeral scenes.

A hearse and funeral cars were seen making their way to Albert Square, with a white coffin inside and beautiful flowers spelling out Lola's name.

The coffin was also adorned with handwritten messages from Lola's friends and family in Walford, which will no doubt pull on viewers' heartstrings even more.

The funeral pictures come ahead of this week's episodes, which will see Lola throw Billy Mitchell a surprise birthday party.

Billy returned home from a trip to Portugal only to find out his granddaughter Lola has months to live.

This has left the market trader - portrayed by Perry Fenwick - down in the dumps and struggling to find happiness as he knows it won't last.

Lola, on the other hand, is more than ready to celebrate any occasion she can as she focuses on living what little time she has to the fullest and leaving her loved ones with cheerful memories to treasure.

This week, Billy is due to celebrate his birthday next week but struggles in the face of Lola's tragically short life expectancy.

Meanwhile, in The Vic, Lola is trying to throw him a surprise party but Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) is just as conflicted when she's brought in on the plan, knowing Billy can't bring himself to feel happy.
