BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent and Carol Kirkwood missing from show as they’re replaced in hosting shake up

BBC Breakfast saw a schedule shake-up this morning as two show favourites went missing from the programme.

Sally Nugent, 51, vanished from the big red sofa this morning leaving co-host Jon Kay to present the show with a stand-in host.

Sarah Keith-Lucas also made a surprise appearance, covering for Carol Kirkwood

Sally usually hosts the BBC’s morning offering between Mondays and Wednesdays but pregnant Nina Warhurst, 43, was forced to fill in as she enjoyed a day off.

It wasn’t the only switch to have happened in the show’s Salford studio either.

Weather star Carol Kirkwood, 60, was also absent in a second shock shake-up.

Sarah Keith-Lucas, 41, covered for Carol as she provided live weather updates on the show.

Although no reason was given for the stars’ absence it is likely to be down to the Bank Holiday working pattern.

Standing in for Sally, Nina appeared to be making the most of her time on the show ahead of her expected maternity leave.

The TV star is currently expecting her third child and hasn’t been shy about showing off her growing baby bump online.

Taking to her Instagram stories recently, the journalist posted photos of her children while watching the recent Manchester vs Brighton football game.

In one snap, Nina’s son, Digby can be seen watching the football on TV while holding up a Manchester United football scarf.

Alongside the photo, Nina wrote: “Here’s to getting turned over by the blues in June.”
