Her family have now told fans that the TV star was "recovering" in hospital and shared a photo of Lauren from her bed.

A tweet shared on Saturday evening revealed: "Lauren is still recovering from the brain surgery and thanks everyone for their good wishes and prayers."

Lauren, 45, who is best known for appearance as a child on TV shows including Wogan and After Dark, was taken for surgery in hospital earlier this month.

At the time her doting mum Katy urged her fans to "pray" for her after waking up from the surgery, posting a snap of the star with her head shaved.

Lauren's mum later issued another health update on the star, telling her fans the bad news that she's been "moved to ICU".

Her friends and fans flooded the comments section in support, calling her a "fighter" and wishing her to "get better soon".

It comes days after Katy told fans that Lauren had "woken up" after her brain surgery.

Katy took to her daughter's Twitter page to post a picture of Lauren in her hospital bed, smiling but with her scalp masked with a white bandage.

She wrote in her caption: "Lauren has woken up after her brain surgery. They had to shave her hair.

"As you know this is Lauren's worst nightmare but she would have died if not. The amazing staff in the Heath Hospital have been wonderful.

"Thank you for your kind words, her recovery ahead. Update to follow."

The reality veteran was a Big Brother's Bit On The Side regular for three years before entering the house herself for Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.

Her last TV gig saw her take part in Channel 4 show Naked Attraction in 2019.

The star was born in Surrey in 1978 and is the youngest of three children.

Lauren began making TV appearances in 1988 on Terry Wogan's UK chat show, Wogan, when she was just 10-years-old.

As Lauren grew up, she believed she was gay, but by her early 20s she identified as transgender.

She started cross dressing in 1997 and in 2001, at the age of 23 underwent gender reassignment surgery.
