THE BBC have confirmed that a second series of its Belfast based crime drama is on the way.
Blue Lights has been commissioned by the broadcaster for another series on the back of the popularity of series one.
Based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, series one followed three new PSNI probationary officers who tried to overcome the daily obstacles of the Irish underworld to become response police officers.
Speaking of the show's return, Executive Producer Stephen Wright said: "We are thrilled by the audience response to the show. "
He added: "Belfast is a vibrant, dynamic and complex place and we have a wealth of stories yet to come from our characters. "
He then said: "We can’t wait to bring these to the fans."

And Director of drama, Lindsay Salt added to Stephen's excitement of Blue Light's return.
She said that she "can't wait to have it back on BBC One and iPlayer for a second series."
Series two will comprise of six hour long episodes and starts filming in summer.
