MasterChef contestant breaks down in floods of tears as John Torode attacks her onion bhaji pie

MASTERCHEF contestant Jo broke down in floods of tears tonight after her dish was savaged by John Torode.

The mum of four was visibly devastated after failing to impress Masterchef hosts John and Gregg Wallace and her all time favourite food critic Jay Rayner.

John Torode didn't mince his words

Jo had blended British and Indian quisine in a half and half pie that served curry and spiced cauliflower paneer, topped with an onion bhaji lid.

But the trio of judges agreed it was lacking a juicy sauce, and pummelled her with rhetorical questions.

Inspecting her savoury pud, John asked her: "You like to do a lot, don't you?"

To which Jo said: "I didn't think I was doing a lot."

Unconvinced, John replied: "Right."

The TV chef continued: "Jo, we know you can cook. But this hasn't worked, has it?"

Gregg then explained: "I was disappointed when I cut into the pie.

"It didn't ooze sauce and gravy, that's the point of a pie."

Jay hammered it home, and said: "It doens't really look like a pie. You have made quite a dry curry.

"I'm afraid the bhaji hasn't worked, and you know that."

After Jo had recovered, she told the cameras: "I'm such a fan of Jay Rayner and to get the opportunity to cook for him, and to then just, ah. Gutted."

Elsewhere, viewers were left fuming this evening after contestant Adam blamed his wife for messing up his dish.

The aspiring cooks faced their most difficult task yet - cooking a dish to a brief set by one of the country's toughest food critics, Jay Rayner.

But Adam's dish didn't go down too well with the judges, who were left less than impressed with the small, dry, pieces of waffle and chicken that he served up.

In response to receiving a grilling from John, Gregg and Jay, Adam was quick to blame his wife for the cooking blunder - and just like the judges fans were unimpressed.

Taking to social media, one viewer fumed: ''Not him blaming his wife for f****** up #MasterChef,'' while a second said: ''Did one of the blokes on #MasterChef blame his wife for the idea of cutting up the food....and then say it was a stupid idea?!"
