GAZZA fights back tears in tonight's Scared of the Dark as he opens up about abusing CALPOL during the grip of his alcohol addiction.
The final episode of the Channel 4 series sees the football legend, 55 - real name Paul Gascoigne - open up about how he turned to the popular childrens' pain medication to get his fix as it contains a very small amount of benzyl alcohol.
In an emotional scene, he admits to stocking up on so much of the stuff, he was banned from all the pharmacies in his home town.
Speaking candidly, the sporting hero says: “Unfortunately, I’ve got this addiction personality. I stopped going to rehab for stupid reasons you know. I was like, that’s the addict side of us so I went for Calpol.
He explains: "Calpol has 0.00OO1% of alcohol. And I thought well if I buy ten bottles, that’s like having nearly a pint. I was going round chemists and saying listen, 'I didn’t wanna tell anyone but I’ve got nine kids, I need Calpol.'
"They were saying, 'Nine kids, what you doing with nine kids?' I went 'Yeah, but don’t tell my family. It costs us a lot of money in maintenance.' And eventually I was barred from all the chemists I think in Newcastle!”

Also in tonight's final, Max George reflects on the solid bond he has formed with Gazza while filming the show, and how it helped him deal with the grief he was feeling for his late bandmate, Tom Parker.
The Wanted star says in a to-camera interview: “Gazza, I’ve made a friend for life there. I don’t think he even knows actually how much.
He continued: "He’s helped me and Gazza was everything and way more you know, really kind. I’ve got a lot of things to sort out in my own life.
"I can’t stop thinking about Tom and feeling all that and being in darkness isn’t nice.”
