Coronation Street’s Colson Smith reveals scary health battle that flared up minutes before live TV appearance
CORONATION Street’s Colson Smith has revealed his scary health battle that flared up minutes before a live TV appearance.
The soap actor opened up about having a horrific outbreak of the illness before joining his co-star Jack P Shepherd on This Morning.
Colson, 24, who is best known for playing Craig Tinker in the ITV show, has told how he has been suffering with Chronic idiopathic urticaria - which causes chronic hives that appear on the body.
The star was diagnosed with the condition earlier this year, but suffered a flare up this week before a major TV appearance.
The actor was set to appear on This Morning with co-star Jack, 35, when he was left "swollen" and with a "rash all over".
Colson feared that the outbreak would make him look as though he had lip filler injections while speaking on live TV.

Speaking on the podcast, he said: "I was worried I was going to go on TV looking like I had lip filler."
He clarified the condition this "no pattern", can happen for "no reason" and is not limited to an allergy of "one thing".
"Basically, what it means is allergic reactions to a lot of stuff. We don't know what, we don't know why. It happens and it can be all over me in different places," she added.
"I'm on a decent amount of drugs to keep it from going, and it's normally fine and copeable. But the night before you go on live TV, I could feel my lips tingling.
"My lips swelled, and it's the first time it's done it for ages [hours before going on This Morning]. I got a rash all over."
Colson went on: "Basically, it started in January so it's meant you won't have seen me in short sleeves since January. I'm always wearing long sleeves and am well covered up.
"It only annoys me when it's on my face. It's a bit disheartening when it's on your face."
It comes after Colson left fans open-mouthed with a new pic of his 10st weight loss after hitting a huge health milestone.
Lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic led Colson to overhaul his lifestyle which kickstarted his weight loss journey.
He previously told ITV's Loose Women: "I was lucky with timing.
"Lockdown was the first time I didn't have a job and I thought, 'What's important to me?' I realised Colson is important to me."
