In a move inspired by Taylor Swift, Rita now owns all the masters to her music moving forward - resulting in a greater control of her future.
In keeping with You & I being her most personal album yet, Rita opted to shoot the cover art in her plush London home - with what appears to be Taika making a discreet cameo appearance behind her.
Talking about the album, Rita said: "This album really means a lot to me.
"It's like my diary of the last few years, it's my sound and it just feels so true to me and who I am today.”
She previously told GQ Hype of the record: "I'm capturing this moment in my life where I’m falling in love.
"There are things I talk about on it, very personal thoughts, about what it took for me to decide on this person, and to commit to him.
"I’ve just been very brave and confident. I’ve written a lot of songs on this album, I've been in every session, and if not, I've altered songs to fit me.
"I've never done that before with any album: really done all the work and written every single song or been a part of every single song process."
In one track called Notting Hill, she reflects on her life before fame.
A source said: “The whole record is super personal rather than Rita simply putting her name to songs about getting drunk in the club.
“Notting Hill is quite reflective. She sings about roaming the streets of West London with her friends while dreaming of hitting the big time.
“Other songs on the record, which is mostly about finally finding The One in husband Taika Waititi, are called Shape of Me and Don’t Think Twice.
“Girl In the Mirror is a self-love anthem about finding inner peace and finally being happy in your own skin.”
On the emotional track, Rita can be heard singing: "I cheated on you in the best way/ With someone I've known my whole life. I know that you can't forgive me/ But this just feels so right."
Admitting she feared putting her heart on paper for the world to judge in her songs, Rita said: "I never really committed to the songwriting as much with the first and second album as I have with this, but after a few weeks of getting into the groove of it, I realised I could really do this. I can stand and sing on the mic forever, but in understanding the world of songwriting I was getting a bit nervous, because it’s a very vulnerable and open album. "
Last summer, The Sun told how Rita and Taika had secretly tied the knot in an intimate wedding.
However, it wasn't until January this year Rita finally went public with the news.
While promoting the record's lead single You Only Love Me - a track about the start of her romance with Taika and not knowing where she stood - Rita told Heart Breakfast: "It was perfect. It was exactly, exactly how I wanted.

"It was nice and perfect. It is nice to keep some things just to myself sometimes it was nice and sweet… Sorry it's not that interesting. One day I will throw a big party.
"I just thought I may as well put it in my music so this is the first time where the music does all the talking. It explains my love story which is on the album."
