Neighbours fans rejoice as legendary stars reunite on set for first day of filming
NEIGHBOURS fans have rejoiced as filming has officially kicked off on the brand new series.
The long-running Australian soap is back in production nearly a year after it was axed by Channel 5.
It was previously announced that Amazon Freevee had struck a deal with the show's production Freemantle to revive the show.
And now some of the soap's biggest stars have reunited to film new episodes, with more drama promised.
Iconic actors such as Ryan Maloney, Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburn, Rebekah Elmaloglou and Stefan Dennis will all reprise their roles.
And, after trepidation from fans, bosses have confirmed Lucinda Cowden is also back as the quirky Melanie Pearson.

"I just can't wait for the show's new era to begin now," said a third.
While a fourth said: "Can't wait to see the return of the only soap I really enjoy watching."
While some elements of the show may change, fans will be glad to know most things will be very familiar - including the iconic Ramsay St.
The show is once again being filmed at their purpose-built set in Nunawading, Melbourne, which contains the Lassiters complex and the lake.
Cast members exclusively told The Sun how producers were keeping a big storyline under wraps.
Alan, who plays Dr Karl Kennedy, said: “They are keeping it completely under wraps. We’ve been told one thing and that’s when we come back it’s going to be huge.
“It’s a big story and will involve a lot of people but we don’t know anything about it.
“There will come a day when your inbox goes ‘ping’ and it will say first script. Everyone will read it and the WhatsApp group will go mad.”
Neighbours will return later this year on Amazon Freevee.
