Fans are convinced that new character George will be heavily featured in the upcoming festive episodes and storyline.

The flash forward scene showed several of the Walford women standing around a dead man's body.

There have been many theories about the murder mystery.

And many are now thinking that new character George Knight will be the dead body or play a part.

Fans discussed their theories on a  forum.

One user said: "Let's discuss possible storylines EE will have in store for the new George Knight character played by Colin Salmon in the future."

Fans then speculated he will be "murdered on Xmas day."

However, others thought: "It’s a waste of time building up a family if he gets murdered."

Another wrote: "I sincerely hope not."

Some viewers also came up with other ideas for George including: "Affair with Linda. Affair with Sharon. Feud with Phil. Feud with Nish."

George has been described as a "fiercely protective doting dad."

The actor, 60, has starred in the likes of the James Bond franchise and Prime Suspect.

Speaking about joining the soap, Colin said: "I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders to take on the role of George Knight.

"I’m excited to explore the character of George, a true East End gentleman having been born in the East End myself.

"I have a great affinity and love for the show and I look forward to being part of the great legacy."

The Knights will arrive on the BBC soap in early summer.
