Following his sudden passing, ITV put together a tribute show showing brief highlights of Paul’s long and varied career.

And his hugely popular series Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs started this evening on ITV1.

The programme was filmed months prior to the former drag queen's death.

But before the show started, ITV dedicated the final series to Paul in a lovely on air tribute.

"Here's Paul O'Grady's final series... For the Love of Dogs."

Fans at home have broken down in tears, with one tweeting: "Can't believe he's gone, this will be a tough watch."

A second said: "Bittersweet watching this glad it's back but heartbroken it's Paul's last series."

"It still feels like Paul is with us still watching this," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "I've had little cry, this is so sad poor Paul."

As the first episode came to an end ITV aired a second tribute to Paul before telling fans the series would continue next week.
