OUR Yorkshire Farm star Clive Owen has opened up on his split from wife Amanda, admitting he "behaved badly" and "made a complete mess" of their relationship.

The farmer, 68, appeared on Thursday's Lorraine hoping to "set the record straight" on his marriage breakdown, after the pair made the shock announcement last June.

He candidly told stand-in presenter Christine Lampard how the couple and their nine kids agreed to the Channel 5 TV series as a form of "security" at Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales.

This is because Amanda, 48, and Clive are tenants at the rural site and do not own it.

Yet the invasion of the Our Yorkshire Farm cameras proved too much for first-generation farmer Clive.

The star told the show: "I handled it very badly.

"It was such a huge change in our life and sadly I made a mess of things.

"I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending, a massive part."

He added: "When all this was going on, I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on.

"I was driving her away."

Talking of the show, he said: "It started eating away at me.

"I behaved badly towards her - I should have been supportive and I was the completely opposite."

Clive went on to praise his ex as a "remarkable woman".

The farmer continued: "It got to a point we couldn't get along at all and we parted. And that is how that is.

"I live at the farm, she lives half-a-mile away, we are in business together, we spend a lot of time with each other. The children are cool. The kids are amazing because of her. She is that kind of woman."

He told how Amanda still cooks for him and their children.

Last month The Sun exclusively revealed Amanda is dating a new man - 71-year-old married businessman Robert Davies.

The pair's secret fling has left Robert's devastated wife heartbroken.

Amanda first came to public recognition via her Twitter account - The Yorkshire Shepherdess.

After establishing her online presence, she released her first book and Sunday Times bestselling The Yorkshire Shepherdess in 2015.

She met Clive in 1996 in a chance encounter in Ravenseat.
