EastEnders DiMarco family unrecognisable as they reunite 25 years after soap exit

EASTENDERS’ Di Marco family were introduced back in 1998 as the Mitchells’ deadly rivals.

Fast forward 25 years and the iconic family looked unrecognisable as they reunited for a boozy lunch on Monday.

The Italian family were an instant hit when they joined the soap back in 1998

The popular soap family included brothers Beppe, played by Michael Greco, and Gianni, portrayed by Marc Bannerman – very much the Italian stallion version of Phil and Grant.

Younger sisters Teresa and Nicky, played by Leila Birth and Carly Hillman, also caused plenty of drama on the soap.

The family was ruled by widowed matriarch Rosa, played by Louise Jameson, who ran an Italian restaurant called Giuseppe’s.

The stars beamed for a photo as they enjoyed their steak and wine dinner.

The only person missing from the reunion was Marc, who played Gianni.

Michael shared the photo and wrote: “Not seen this lot for 25 years! My EastEnders mum and sisters.

“Was incredible to catch up [with] them all and go down memory lane Di Marco family.”

EastEnders fans were delighted with the rare reunion and begged bosses to bring the family back.

One wrote: “DI Marcos should come back to the Square. It’s never been the same.”

Another posted: “No one has aged!!! And you still beautiful.”

“Should never of written you out there was some good scope for some good storylines before you left looking great guys,” a third echoed.

Someone else said: “What a great photo Michael – shame Marc wasn’t there!”

The family’s departure was the end of an era on Enders, but ushered in another line-up of trouble-makers – the Slaters.

Since they left the show, the stars have all gone on to different things, with Louise joining rival soap Emmerdale in 2022 as Mary Goskirk.

While Marc went on to star in a string of TV shows including 2007’s I’m A Celebrity and iconic drama Footballers’ Wives.

Leila is now based in the US where she has bagged a range of exciting roles.

She played British reporter Melody Stone in the movie W.M.D in 2013 and was the voice of the Wayback machine in the hit kids’ animated movie Mr. Peabody & Sherman.

Meanwhile Michael sailed into Love Island in 2005 (back when it was a celebrity show) and regularly turned out for footie showdowns like Soccer Aid.

The star also became a big deal on the live poker circuit, with his tournament winnings thought to total nearly £500,000.
