Paul O’Grady insisted ‘I don’t believe in slowing down’ despite health warnings in bittersweet interview before death
MUCH-LOVED TV star Paul O'Grady insisted that he had no plans to 'slow down' just years before his tragic passing.
It was confirmed that Paul had tragically passed away "unexpectedly but peacefully" yesterday aged 67.
In an exclusive interview years before Paul passed away, he admitted that he was not planning on "slowing down" or giving up his beloved career despite concerns from loved ones over his health.
At the time, the TV and radio icon told us: "People tell me to slow down all the time but I don’t believe in that, not at all.
"You can, but what’s slowing down? I’m physically incapable."
Paul went onto joke that he has "no patience" and struggled to sit down and enjoy a film as he preferred to be active - whether it be in his working career or devoting time to the causes that meant so much to him.

He continued: "The other night we got two films to watch on Sky. 20 minutes into the first one, I can’t watch this rubbish. So we tried another one.
"Ten minutes in – Oh I can’t watch this crap.
"Planet of the Apes, it was better when they had all the make up and Helena Bonham Carter was the doctor.
"I’ve no patience."

His husband Andre Portasio announced the sad news of his death with a statement in which he said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
"We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.
"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
"I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."
Paul's cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but he had struggled with his health in recent years.
In a fitting tribute, ITV will be airing the Royal special of his much-loved programme For The Love of Dogs tonight in a schedule shake-up.
The slot used to famously be occupied by Paul's self-titled teatime chat show, in a fitting nod to his legacy.
The Queen Consort Camilla added her condolences today having formed a special bond with the star while they worked closely together in support of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
