Popular Sky series axed after three seasons despite rave reviews – leaving fans gutted
A POPULAR Sky TV series has been given the boot in a gutting blow to fans.
The historical drama series Britannia will not be renewed beyond the third season - leaving fans on a cliffhanger ending.
Despite building a loyal fanbase it seems as though that wasn't enough to keep the show going.
The show featured The Walking Dead star David Morrissey in the leading role as General Aulus.
His character was a power obsessed military leader who was at the heart of the Roman invasion of Britannia.
The series first aired in January 2018 on Sky Atlantic before later airing on Amazon Prime in the US.

Sky had no comment when approached by Deadline who were the first to report the cancellation.
The programme also featured a variety of acting heavyweights such as Zoe Wanamaker, Mackenzie Crook and Kelly Reilly.
At the time of its launch, it was hailed as the British Game Of Thrones – an epic tale of the birth of our nation involving warring Celtic tribes, mystic Druids and invading Roman legions.
