Amanda Holden breaks silence on ‘date’ with Simon Cowell before landing BGT job

AMANDA Holden has denied dating Simon Cowell - but admits he says otherwise.

The 52-year-old says her Britain's Got Talent co-star teases her about their brief romance.

But Amanda - who describes Simon as "godlike" - insists they've always just been friends.

“He teases me it was a date, but it wasn’t, told .

"We went out for dinner and I took my best friend."

Holden calls herself a “waitress that got lucky”.

Amanda first found fame on dating show Blind Date at just 19 years old.

She went onto become a jobbing actress appearing in The Grimleys and Wild at Heart.

In 2007, she was asked to join Britain's Got Talent and her career has gone from strength to strength ever since.

“I am just eternally grateful that BGT gave me a chance.

"Simon Cowell likes to say he made people like me and it’s true. When I joined BGT there was no social media, so it was my chance to show people who I really am.

"In life you can’t make everyone like you, but at least I got a chance to change some of the perceptions about me.”

David Walliams announced at the end of 2022 that David would be leaving Britain's Got Talent after 10 years in a show shake-up after he was caught on tape making disparaging remarks about previous contestants.

He's been replaced by former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli.
