It comes after The Sun exclusively revealed the channel was bringing the much-loved game show back.

TV presenter Stephen Mulhern will front the new series on ITV1 and ITVX.

Originally airing on Channel 4 and presented by Noel Edmonds, the show ran between 2005 and 2016.

It sees contestants confronted with 22 sealed boxes, each one hiding a different amount of money.

Without knowing what each one contains, the contestant must eliminate the boxes, which are opened one at a time, and the amount of money inside is revealed.

The iconic and notorious Banker is also returning as he tempts players to accept an offer of cash in exchange for what might be inside their box.

Speaking about taking over the reins of the show, Stephen, 45, said: "Wow what an opportunity, I’m beyond excited to be hosting the brand-new series.

"I’ve always been such a huge fan of the show, so much so, I’ve been practising at home with small cereal boxes! It looks so simple but it's an incredibly compelling game for both those playing and the viewers watching at home.

"It’s one of the greatest shows of all time and to be the new host is an honour! I can’t wait to get started."

ITV has not said when the new series will air but applications for contestants to take part are now open.

Deal Or No Deal ended in August 2016 following 13 series – and even had a farewell tour around the country so fans could watch it for one last time.

Talking about the tour at the time, Noel said: “We can go anywhere and this is something I’ve wanted to do for years. Twenty-two boxes, a phone and me. Where will we pop up next?”

The tour ended after one year and after 3,000 episodes the show finished for good.

The year before it finished, it was worked out Deal Or No Deal had given away over £40million in prize money.
