The show has been on screens this week, and two contestants wasted no time getting to know each other, with Jack and Sydney cosying up with one another in bed.

Jack, 28, works in construction and plays semi professional football, and Sydney, 24, is a single mum who works as a delivery driver.

The pair hugged and chatted away in their bed, which is situated very closely to the rest of their co-stars.

At one point, Jack says: “Give me a French kiss,” as they throw the duvet cover over themselves and making smooching sounds.

As their co-stars watched on, participant Connor told cameras he thought the pair were “cute.”

He added: “It does get draining down in the basement so I think people sometimes need hug or a kiss.

“They’re connecting and I think it’s quite sweet.”

His thoughts were shared by fans on social media too, who seem to be backing the pair, but some wanted to playfully tell them they’re “not on Love Island.”

On the new show, the players have the chance to rise and fall, from having everything to having nothing, in a game rife with drama, betrayal, and power manoeuvres.

Viewers were not impressed with the first episode, with some branding it "horrible" and others saying they "switched it off".

The first episode saw six candidates put themselves forward to have the power. While the other players remained in the basement as the grafters.

The grafters then had to participate in a variety of challenges in an effort to win cash for the power contestants.

The first duty involved electric shocks for the labourers, but they were successful in earning the power players £6,000.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Sorry but this new show, Rise and Fall is absolute s**t!";

Another complained: "I had to turn Rise and Fall off. It's horrible. And it's far too close to the way this country is actually run to be entertaining..."

A third fumed: "God damn! This is so bad."

A fourth added: "Who is even going to bother watching this show honestly its so crap!"

A fifth raged: "I turned it off! That was the worst show I've seen this year."
