ALEX Moore claimed he was back on the straight and narrow after spending time in prison.
However, Emmerdale viewers quickly rumbled his next big storyline during last night's episode and were disappointed.
The troubled character portrayed by Liam Boyle has wreaked havoc throughout the Dales, from trying to kidnap his own son to framing his ex-partner Dawn Fletcher for drug trafficking.
But after a stay behind bars, Alex came back to the eponymous village and insisted that he was ready for a fresh, clean start.
Unfortunately, bad habits clearly die hard and a scene from last night's ITV soap left viewers exasperated.
Manpreet Sharma (portrayed by Rebecca Sarker) arrived late for lunch at the Anderson household with her partner Charles, Naomi and Alex.

As she settled, she received a phone call from fellow local GP Liam Cavanagh about a drug delivery.
Alex's interest was immediately raised and he was later seen making his own call to a mystery person.
It's evident that Alex has a plan but fans of the Yorkshire-based drama are still recovering from Leyla Harding's own drug storyline which saw her getting kidnapped and held hostage.
This led to many complaints on social media as fans figured out what the next big storyline could be.

"Oh great another drugs storyline no doubt now that Alex heard Manpreet", one viewer commented before adding: "Don't they realise drug storylines are repetitively dull even more so when it'll involve even duller Alex, Manpreet, Charles and Naomi?"
A second fan jumped in: "Alex gonna knick the drugs from the Dr's. Another drugs story to go with the 40000000000 other drug stories they've churned out.
"This Alex robbing the drugs isn't in any way a predictable plot", a third viewer sighed.
As fans of the long-running soap will remember, Alex returned to Emmerdale and bonded with reformed character Naomi Walters (Karene Peter) who's had her own troubled beginnings after it was revealed she was involved in Nicola King's attack.

The pair embarked on a relationship, much to the chagrin of Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) who firmly believed Alex was up to no good.
On Monday, he came to terms with the fact that he may have been wrong all along but, as spoilers have confirmed, he's soon to be proven right.
Alex's relationship with Naomi is far from genuine but the young woman is defending him despite having known him for a short while.
"Can we talk about how Naomi has known this Alex a week...why she carrying on like they’ve been together for years?", one viewer wrote, speaking about the couple.
