Danni Menzies reveals it was impossible getting a boyfriend while hosting A Place In The Sun
TV star Danni Menzies has revealed hosting A Place In The Sun stopped her from finding love.
The single presenter, 35, spent six years on the property show helping Brits relocate to sunnier climes before deciding to quit last year.
While she relished her time on the show, it came at the cost of her love life, which had to take a back seat as she spent up to six months a year out of the country.
Speaking to the Sun from The Ideal Home Show, Danni said: "It's really hard to get a boyfriend when you're travelling and living out of a suitcase all the time."
Discussing the demanding nature of the programme, she said: "It's like half of the year pretty much, but it's broken up so you'd do three weeks away, two weeks back, a week away, a week back. It was really random. It didn't really leave enough times to experience many other things. I'd go on two dates with someone and be gone for three weeks. That wasn't working. And I missed my dog, I missed my dog so much."
Though she's now parked the intense travelling, Danni admitted her relationship status hasn't changed.

When asked if things in the dating department were looking up, she laughed: "No. I'm working on it."
There was more to the exit than romance woes though. Danni felt she couldn't explore other options due to the erratic nature of her schedule.
She said: "I did A Place in the Sun for six years and I really enjoyed the whole experience and learned an awful lot, but it kind of felt like it was time for a new challenge.
"Variety is the spice of life for me. I like being out of my comfort zone. I like taking risks and trying new things. So it just felt like the right time for me."

Danni took her first step into reality television last September when she filmed The Challenge.
Hosted by Mark Wright and filmed in Argentina, it was a who's who of reality TV stars from Love Island's Kaz Crossley and Marcel Somerville to Strictly's AJ Pritchard and Towie's James Lock.
Even though Danni struggled with nerves during the daring game show, she enjoyed the experience and felt she gained skills that would stand her in good stead should the likes of Celebrity SAS or I'm A Celebrity come knocking.
However, just a week after returning to the UK, she was hit by a stolen moped on the streets of London and suffered facial injuries and concussion.
This set her career back months as she worked hard to recover both physically and psychologically.
Now the worst is behind her, Danni is now more motivated than ever to make the most of her life and has two big new series in the pipeline this year on Channel 4 and Channel 5.
She said: "It's been a journey but now, I'm like let's have it. I'm raring to go and really excited about the rest of the year. I feel like it's really given me a bit of a shove actually. Sometimes you've got to go down before you go up. Definitely made me want to push it and really go for it."
The Ideal Home Show, in partnership with Sky Glass, is the world’s longest-running home and interiors exhibition and is returning to Olympia London from Friday 17th March until Sunday 2nd April.
