NOT FUNNY

Comic Relief viewers left fuming as technical blunder ‘ruins’ Red Nose Day opening moments

Comic Relief viewers were left fuming when a technical blunder meant they missed the opening moments of Red Nose Day.

Some fans of the charity extravaganza vented on social media that they tuned into BBC One to see the fundraiser kick off, only to find that the channel was showing the BBC Two feed instead.

So rather than seeing Sir Lenny Henry regenerate into Doctor Who's David Tennant in the opening sketch, they saw footage from Saving Lives At Sea, which was airing on the sister channel at the same time.

"Great start to Comic Relief they've got this sketch where they broadcast exactly what's on BBC2," one complained.

Another fumed: "@BBCOne you had one job. Most of us missed Lenny Henry regenerating. Because you didn't know the schedule. #major fail."

A third added: "Seeing tweets about Dr Who but watching lifeboats!"

A fourth chipped in: "Anyone else miss the start of #rednoseday as they were showing BBC2 on BBC1?"

It appears the gaffe primarily affected viewers of BBC Scotland.

The Sun has contacted the BBC for comment.

The annual fundraiser supports a wide range of charities, helping people who are suffering from poverty, discrimination and violence.
