A Place in the Sun’s Jasmine Harman pays emotional tribute to fans for support after dog rushed into emergency surgery
A PLACE in the Sun presenter Jasmine Harman reached out to her followers in a heartfelt post, thanking them for their messages after her family health scare.
Jasmine Harman shared a short Instagram story updating fans on her five-month-old puppy, Astro, after he had to have major abdominal surgery after swallowing a ball.
The property expert, 47, filmed the video while walking to collect her children from school, she said: “[I] wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who sent messages about Astro, and to give you a little updated because he’s been to the vet today.
“He’s had the staples removed so he’s on the mend he’s not yet allowed out for any big walks, obviously, but just wanted to say a big thank you. "
The message came three days after Jasmine shared what had happened to Astro, in a bid to raise awareness to other dog owners around choking hazards and first aid.
With Astro lying on the sofa behind her, Jasmine explained what had happened, she said: “You can see he’s feeling a bit sorry for himself, a week ago he had major abdominal surgery.
“He happened to pick up a ball in the park that belonged to another dog and without any hesitation, he swallowed it.”
The TV host then showed Astro’s surgical wound, detailing how a vet removed the squashy ball which she showed to the camera, before suggesting safer alternatives including an anti choking ball and a toy with a rope attached.
Animal lover, Jasmine, held back tears as she spoke about her other dog, Jet, who tragically died on July when he choked on a ball while out for a walk with a friend.
Urging fans to be aware of what to do if a dog chokes she said: “If you have a dog in your care, or someone else’s dog, please know what to do in case of an emergency, dog first aid found on the internet.”
There was an outpouring of support from her fans thanking her for raising awareness.
