Emmerdale teases surprising love interest for Leyla Harding amid kidnap horror

LEYLA Harding has unfinished business with drug dealer Callum and it all comes to a head this week.

As life in Emmerdale takes a terrifying turn for her, the wedding planner gets the help of a knight in shining armour.

The character portrayed by Roxy Shahidi made a bold move in recent scenes of the ITV soap when she spotted Callum (Tom Ashley) during a night out with Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).

Both women took on the town with fellow Dales residents Victoria Sugden, Naomi Walters, Ethan Anderson, Alex Moore, Belle and Vinny Dingle.

But after being told Callum was roaming around, discreetly dealing drugs with clubgoers, Leyla decided to call the police and have him arrested.

However, as teased by spoilers for this week, this lands her and her close ones in potentially deadly danger.

And when Suzy Merton is brutally attacked, Leyla has to come up with a plan to take Callum down.

“Suzy is terrified that Callum is going to come for her again and Leyla then takes it upon herself to tell her not to worry and says she’s going to take action”, Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi explained.

“She knows at this point that she has to take action to stop him. She doesn’t quite know what that is yet, though, but she promises Suzy that she’s going to protect her and keep her safe and she’s going to end it.”

Leyla grows increasingly terrified when she receives threatening messages from the incensed drug dealer – and Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) steps in.

Roxy teased: “He has got words of advice.”

The mysterious character encourages Leyla to take action to win against Callum but there could be a budding connection taking form between both characters.

“I think there’s a spark for Leyla with any potential suitor ever”, Roxy added.

Following her chat with Caleb, Leyla hatches a plan against Callum, believing that paying him off should be enough.

Unfortunately, things go terribly wrong for her as Callum takes her to an unknown location with a plan of his own.

Could Caleb be the one to save her?

Leyla’s marriage to Liam Cavanagh recently hit the rocks and fans of the program believed they could feel chemistry between her and pal Suzy Merton, whose own relationship ended when Vanessa Woodfield left the eponymous village.

Meanwhile, Caleb has been too focused on his business endeavours to give romance the time of day.

Is this about to change?
