The businesswoman played by Alison King recently crashed a factory van into Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) who, at the time, was riding Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne) brand new motorbike.

Uninsured, Carla learned through Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) that she'll have a lawsuit on her hands.

Next week, in scenes due to air on ITV, Carla stresses about ending up behind bars as an uninsured driver but her husband Peter vows to never let that happen.

Later on, at the factory, Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) is surprised when a preoccupied Carla agrees to a staff bonus after everybody bagged the American deal.

Aside from her legal worries, Carla's mental health has clearly been on the decline as she's had many strange episodes.

Determined to be safe rather than sorry, Carla sees Dr Gaddas and describes that, through each of her episode, she's felt like she's tripping on drugs.

The doctor prescribes her with diazepam but will it really solve everything?

This is highly unlikely - when the Americans arrive in Weatherfield, Carla gets reminded by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) that she'll need to be on top form.

Carla can’t believe his nerve and as she takes charge, orders him to make the tea.

When the meeting draws to a close, Carla's behaviour drastically changes and grows more erratic.

With the Americans gone, the Underworld employees celebrate their new deal, but they’re interrupted by a worse for wear Carla who barks at them to get out of her factory.

Little does everybody know that there's something sinister hiding behind Carla's outburst.

After murdering two people in the cobbles, Stephen has resorted to spiking Carla's drinks with LSD as revenge for his demotion.

Next week, he turns things up a notch once again... and gets ready to make a third victim.

The following day, Carla begins to feel better and announces she's going back to work.

She assures Peter and Stephen that it was nothing more than a blip but when she goes to make a drink, Carla smashes a mug and cuts her finger.

Finding it hard to cope, she concedes and accepts she may need another chat with Dr Gaddas who, later, suggests she takes an extended break and goes back on her antipsychotic drugs.

Stephen makes the most of the distraction and swipes Carla's keys from the factory.

Before long, he manages to let himself into the flat and, once he makes sure Carla is asleep, drops her keys back into her bag before heading to the kitchen to turn on the grill.
