Now, his fans are getting to see him in his first new role outside of the BBC soap.

Heat unfolds to the backdrop of the looming Australian bushfire season when two families, who are long-time friends, venture to a secluded home for a summer vacation.

As secrets and lies unravel it becomes a tinderbox – and not everyone will make it out alive.

Danny stars alongside Darren McMullen, Jane Allsop, Pia Miranda, Olympia Valance and Richie Morris.

The drama also features newcomers Matia Marks, Matteo Annetta and Hunter Hayden.

Heat consists of four episodes and is the latest Channel 5 drama to be set in Australia.

Danny is following in the footsteps of other EastEnders alum who have filmed a Channel 5 drama Down Under.

Last year saw Jo Joyner appear in Riptide, meanwhile Charlie Brooks - who also played a big part in the 2022 Christmas storyline in EastEnders - starred in 2021's Lie With Me.

It became one of Channel 5’s highest rated dramas, and Heat is created by Fremantle Australia’s Jason Herbison, whose credits also include Lie With Me.

As well as exploring new acting opportunities, Danny has also filmed a new game show since leaving Albert Square.

Danny will front Cheat alongside comedian Ellie Taylor on Netflix, and contestants taking part can literally cheat their way to a fortune.

Netflix has confirmed the show will drop on the platform from March 1, when the first four episodes will be available to stream.
