NOT THE END

Happy Valley star Rhys Connah wants to return for spin-off series focusing on his character

HAPPY Valley star Rhys Connah would love to be in a spin-off series focusing on his character.

The 16-year-old actor, who has played Ryan Cawood on the hit BBC1 crime drama since 2014, thinks creator Sally Wainwright could write a story in which he becomes a police officer or a killer.

Rhys played the son of Sarah Lancashire’s Sergeant Catherine Cawood and befriended murderer Tommy Lee Royce, portrayed by James Norton.

He said: “If I got asked to do a spin-off  I definitely would.

"The most popular idea is that I play a police officer but a murderer could happen, too.

“Sally can write anything. I’m not too bothered what I play. I love acting. I’d be happy doing anything.”

Speaking at the gala night for Meat Loaf musical Bat Out Of Hell in London last week, Rhys revealed he is constantly recognised in public now.

He said: “The weirdest was being  recognised in Greggs.

“I didn’t get any freebies, though.  I was gutted.”

The Happy Valley finale drew 7.5million viewers.
