I’ll never stop being glam – I refuse to look frumpy even when hiking up mountains, says Springwatch’s Megan McCubbin

SPRINGWATCH's Megan McCubbin has revealed she'll never feel ashamed to look glam or wear makeup despite her outdoor job.

The zoologist and wildlife presenter, 25, has said she won't give in to people who expert her to wear khaki and wear camouflage.

Speaking about breaking stereotypes, Megan told The Sun: "I like to wear makeup and I'm not ashamed of that.

"All my makeups Cruelty Free and Vegan. And I'm always conscious about kind of what I wear. But I like breaking stereotypes."

Despite the nature of her job, Megan says she likes to be a bit girly while outdoors in nature.

"I can wear a skirt and go bird watching at the same time," she said.

She continued: "That's totally fine. And I think those stereotypes are changing as they should, and it should be more accessible to more people, because that's the way we're gonna get more people interested in wildlife.

"I can wear a full face of makeup and go out for the day hiking in the mountains.

"Why not? So we need to break down their stereotypes and just be who we are."

The star also confirmed she has no plans to leave the programme - despite her stepdad doing so.

She said: "No, I've not left. I love the watches and I'm still very much part of the team and we're having conversations at the moment about spring watch.

"There'll probably be some pre recorded films on there as well, but I'll always be part of the watches team, and I have a lot of love for the show."

The BBC recently confirmed it had axed the autumn edition of the wildlife programme.
