Sandi Toksvig reveals she HATES cake – despite presenting Bake Off for 3 years
Great British Bake Off star Sandi Toksvig has shockingly revealed that she hates cake - despite presenting the Channel 4 show for three years.
Sandi, 64, quit the show in 2020 and at the time, speculation mounted over her reasons behind the shock move. But it seems it may have been simply down to her dislike of cake.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, at the National Comedy Awards, she said: "I don't really like cake. It’s a secret."
When questioned as to why she decided to stay on the baking show if she didn't like the taste of cake, she responded: "No, I’d like to do a cheese show next. If you could find out if there is a Cheese Off, that would be the one for me. But cake? Not really no."
After Sandi announced her departure, it was revealed to The Sun that she had actually grown unhappy and started to distance herself from cast and crew.
As source said at the time: "The atmosphere on set had been lively and upbeat, but as time went on Sandi seemed to be enjoying it less and less and just didn’t want to get involved."

They added: "She spent most of her time hiding out in what looked like a bijou shepherd’s hut she’d had set up, knitting on her own — and quite often grumbling about it all. As time went on it sparked some real tensions and everybody felt uncomfortable."
Little Britain star Matt Lucas replaced Sandi soon after and appeared alongside judges Pru Leith and Paul Hollywood.
In a bid to announce Sandi's replacement, a short video was posted on Twitter with a caption that said: "On your marks, get set… say hello to the newest member of the Bake Off team – @RealMattLucas ! #GBBO"
And then Matt was overheard jokingly saying: "If my mum came along, she would just follow me around going, 'Matt don't eat that! Matt don't, I'm serious. Don't'."
Away from the screen Sandi revealed another struggle. She said: "You know, we didn't think we'd still be fighting but the LGBT community is still suffering and while they are I'm always going to be a person speaks up."
