Sam Smith suffers vile verbal attack from Irish woman while walking in New York
SINGER Sam Smith was the victim of a shocking verbal attack from a woman who screamed vile abuse at him as he walked in New York.
The woman, who had a strong Irish accent, launched the obscene rant on a public walkway after the star’s raunchy BRIT Awards performance.
Smith, 30, racked up more than 100 formal complaints after dressing as the devil to sing Unholy at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday.
A similar look sparked complaints from viewers watching the Grammys the week before.
The non-binary Stay With Me singer has been in New York this week where the pop star was disgracefully yelled at by the woman while out for a walk.
In a widely condemned video posted online, an Irish woman roars: “Sam Smith belongs in hell, you demonic, twisted, sick b*****d.”
The rant, which Smith appears to record, continues with the woman shouting more abuse at him.
At one stage a man is heard joining in with similar insults.
Drag Queen Panti Bliss called out the “heckler” on Twitter before adding: “I regret using the word 'heckler'.
"This isn’t heckling. This is straight up harassment and abuse.”
