The Great British Menu see's 32 chefs in total representing eight different regions or nations.

Tonight's show saw four chefs from Wales go head to head, with one being sent home.

Cookery fans were left dismayed by the rivalry between the contestants as the show got underway.

One Tweeted: "Unusually joyless episode so far."

Another said: "There’s not a lot of ‘fun’ in tonight’s episode. All a bit tense."

A third said: "There's so much rivalry between the contestants."

A fourth chimed in: "Don’t think the standard is great so far and boy are they dull, cheer up guys."

The show is hosted by the brilliant Andi Oliver - who is mum to TV presenter Miquita Oliver.

Andi, 59, is a London-based chef who is regularly seen hosting TV and radio shows, usually around food.

The star is said to have a lifelong obsession with tasty cuisine and would throw her own dinner parties from the young age of 12.

She travelled extensively in her youth, thanks to her dad's career in the RAF, and this gave her a varied palate with influences from all over the world.

When she is not broadcasting, she co-runs Andi's Restaurant in London with Kelly Miles.
