Coronation Street star reveals exciting new job – and it’s worlds away from soapland
FORMER Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes is heading for a brand new role alongside a Strictly Come Dancing favourite.
Faye, who played Kate Connor on the ITV soap, is joining the cast of Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom The Musical.
She will be joining the production to play the lead role of Fran alongside ex Strictly pro Kevin Clifton.
The actress is taking over the role from fellow soap star Maisie Smith at the end of March.
Craig Revel Horwood is continuing to direct the musical at it continues its mammoth 10 month tour of the UK and Ireland.
It is Faye's biggest acting role since appearing in the ITV soap opera.

She will be hoping the skills she learned as a contestant on Dancing on Ice will put her in good stead for the all-singing, all-dancing show.
Speaking of hew new challenge, Faye said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the tour of Strictly Ballroom and can’t wait to
work with Craig Revel Horwood, Kevin Clifton and the hugely talented cast.
"I’m so excited to be playing the role of Fran and making it my own. Bring it on!“
Strictly judge Craig expressed his delight that Faye would be hopping on board for the rest of the tour as he sang the praises of the actress.

Whilst Kevin added: “It’s very exciting news that Faye is joining the cast of Strictly Ballroom and I’m looking forward to singing and dancing my way across the UK & Ireland with her!“
The show tells the story of Scott Hastings (Kevin), a rebellious young ballroom dancer who ends up paired with a novice, with no dance skills at all.
