Call The Midwife fans make desperate plea to BBC bosses about series 12
CALL The Midwife fans have made a desperate plea to BBC bosses about series 12.
The beloved BBC drama is back on our screens on Sunday evenings following the exploits of the characters at Nonnatus House.
One fan favourite is Sister Monica Joan, played by Judy Parfitt, who has been part of the show since it began in 2012.
Last week, the Sister was seen rescuing a dog who had hurt his paw.
The Call the Midwife official Instagram account shared a clip from the episode and it prompted a number of replies from fans asking for a prequel series about Sister Joan.
One wrote: "Would love a 'Young Sister Monica Joan' spinoff".

Others reacted positively to the suggestion, with one replying: "That would be an amazing prequel. Before she became a nun."
Another said: "Omg that would be fantastic."
A fellow fan suggested Judy, 87, could even narrate the series about the younger version of her character.
Meanwhile, Call the Midwife fans fear the show is set to be axed.
A recent episode saw the health board pay an unexpected visit to Nonnatus House.
The chairman then asked for Sister Julienne to meet him when she had returned.
Later on as the pair met, he told her: "Take a seat. Thank you for sparing me the time. I called you in today because I thought it was time to refresh our understanding of the Order's position."
She replied: "Our position in Poplar," until he corrected her, saying: "We encourage the name Tower Hamlets since the inception of the GLC."
But as the continued to speak it soon became clear the meeting would wield bad news.
"Nonnatus House is financially inefficient and too dependent on the resources of the Turner practice which we also have in our sights," he said.
"You both use dangerous unskilled labour for maintenance. Finally, and I shudder to think how things have come to such a pass in the modern age, you are currently only operational because of private charity."
He added: "At a time to be decided by the Board of Health, Nonnatus House will lose its agency status and its autonomy."
