Coronation Street’s ‘most hated’ character teases explosive return to soap for Chesney Brown’s wedding
FORMER Coronation Street star Wendi Peters has sensationally claimed that she could be back on the cobbles for Chesney's upcoming nuptiuals.
The star, who played the dad-of-five's mum, Cilla Battersby-Brown, could be back to wreak havoc ahead of her son's wedding to Gemma Winter.
Wendi appeared on the show for three years before bowing out in 2007 although she did crop up for a few weeks in 2014 when she attempted to mend fences and build bridges with her broken family.
However, the star has hinted that Cilla could make an epic comeback to watch her son finally tie the knot.
Actress Wendi quipped: "I heard Chesney's getting married, but I don't think anybody's told his mother."
Speaking of potentially working with newer cast including Maureen Lipman (Evelyn Plummer) and Jane Hazelgrove (Bernie Winter) she added to Digital Spy: "I can imagine them having some great comedy scenes round the wedding buffet, but who knows?”

Wendi recently jumped ship and joined the rival cast of BBC soap Doctors.
The 54-year-old will play the role of a brand new doctor in the hit BBC One show from February.
She has already started filming at Leatherbridge’s famous Mill and will play Dr Nina Bulsara.
Teasing her character, the Beeb said Dr Bulsara will be a chatterbox who has an opinion on everything and everyone.
"She can be overbearing and inappropriate, but her cup is always half full and she’ll always find the positive in any difficulty or situation," they said.
Speaking about joining Doctors, Peters said: "I am thrilled to be joining the wonderful Doctors team to play Dr Nina Bulsara - a woman on a mission who always seems to get what she wants!"
The show's executive producer said they were "delighted" to welcome Wendi to the soap.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 at 8pm.
