Olivia Colman looks unrecognisable after revolting transformation for BBC’s Great Expectations

OLIVIA Colman looks unrecognisable as she transformed for BBC's adaption of the Great Expectations.

The actress, 49, who is playing Miss Havisham, looks very different in full bridal attire, with stained teeth and a blonde wig.

The teaser shows the creepy looking bride meeting young Pip when he arrives at Satis House for the first time, ready to begin his education to become a gentleman.

Miss Havisham is a character in the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations.

She is a wealthy spinster, once jilted at the altar, who insists on wearing her wedding dress for the rest of her life. 

The new six-part series - written by Steven Knight and directed by Lucy Forbes - is based on Charles Dickens' novel of the same name.

Great Expectations follows the story of an orphan named Pip - and was first released back in 1860.

Dickens later made it into a book.

The cast was announced back last February and a month later filming began.

Olivia will be joined on our screens by the likes of Fionn Whitehead, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris and many more.

The new teaser clip come over two years after Steven revealed that he would develop Dickens' novel into a show.

This is his second after producing A Christmas Carol in 2019.

Steven Knight previously said of the upcoming show: “I chose Great Expectations’ as the next work to bring to the screen not just because of the timeless characters, but also because of the very timely story.

"A story of class mobility and class intransigence, told through an intensely emotional and personal first person narrative.

"As the son of a blacksmith myself, Pip’s journey from the forge into society is a very special one to me.

Great Expectations will air on BBC One this Spring
