Coronation Street legend reveals he’s split from his wife and is getting divorced after shock new career

CORONATION Street and Holby City legend Charles Dale has revealed he and his wife have split and are going through a ‘tricky’ divorce.

The actor, who is best known for his roles as tragic mechanic Dennis Stringer on Corrie and then for playing Big Mac on medical drama Casualty, shared the sad news on Twitter.

He said he and his longtime wife had parted ways by sharing a photo of himself posing on a rooftop garden overlooking the sea.

Charles wrote: “So, 60 today (WTF), unemployed, skint, going through a divorce (fine but tricky), but thanks to the generosity of my family and friends, feeling not too shoddy.

"In fact, one might say, downright chipper! Can’t think why, can you?”

It’s the first time that Charles, who keeps his family life private, has acknowledged his split from his wife - who he has never named.

Charles’s news of his divorce and his admission to being ‘unemployed’ and ‘skint’ come just months after it was revealed that he had taken a huge career change after becoming a local councillor in his hometown of Tenby, Wales.

He also helps his family’s record shop business with his sister.

Last year he revealed too by standing for election at his local council.

Charles appeared on Coronation Street from 2000 - 2002.
