PREGNANT Gemma Atkinson has brushed off mum-shamers by hitting the gym for another deadlift session.

The soap star, who is expecting her second baby, came under fire last week after filming herself doing a workout routine.

Gemma captured herself on camera as she performed a number of lunges, squats and stretches.

She had been seen deadlifting on another occasion - and not all fans were impressed.

One had told her: "Don’t forget Gemma ur second baby will be different than first, the womb will be more stretched from first baby and will be easier but be careful for pelvic dysfunction."

Others issued Gemma warnings to "be careful".

Gemma, who is a fitness fanatic, was forced to hit back at the critics, telling them she had "the all clear" from doctors.

The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star also explained that she has "stepped down from the norm" and is monitoring her heart rate during cardio workouts.

"The weights I’m currently lifting aren’t heavy for me, but they are heavy for my pelvis and vagina 😂 And that’s what’s important," she added.

Gemma has now proved that the mum-shamers are not bothering her, by proudly sharing another video of herself in the gym.

The actress, who is engaged to Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez, is lifting a heavy barbell as her daughter Mia watches on.

Her three-year-old daughter then proudly lifts a bar into the air.

Gemma captioned the footage: "I don’t ever want Mia to feel out of place in a gym. I don’t ever want her to think weights are only for her Papa and brother.

"We’re sure as hell gonna give them a run for their money."

"Honestly, one of the coolest things about mum who lifts weights is that we get to raise an entire generation of kids who see women lifting in the gym as the norm. That's freaking awesome."

But sadly despite Gemma's reassurances and defiant stand against mum-shamers, she has still fallen foul.

One commented: "Take it easy as your pregnant, lifting weights I think shouldn't be doing this but gentle exercise like walking etc just my view."

Another penned: "Love this but Gem please be careful you have an old woman worrying."

Others, however, have thrown their support behind Gemma.

"Well done @glouiseatkinson. I trained all the way through my pregnancy, as weights has always been part of my daily life, I was still doing CrossFit day before I had my baby," someone told her.

"Well done for all your inspirations always. And those who are thinking it’s not ok to do weights, her body is used to it so it’s not like she’s introducing new weights into her routine. It’s perfectly normal x."

And another supporter wrote: "She was doing it before she was pregnant, as long as she stays within her limits and takes her time resting when she needs to rest she is fine. It’s actually helpful for recovery because her muscles will be in better condition and it can also help with pelvic floor."
