EMMERDALE fans are all saying the same thing after Laurel Thomas stood up to a homophobic school governor in tonight’s episode.
The restaurant manager - who is played by actress Charlotte Bellamy in the ITV soap - was left furious tonight by the way son Arthur was treated after coming out as gay.
Laurel was incandescent with rage after discovering the school had cancelled Arthur’s assembly after one complaint from a parent.
She cornered one of the school Governors, Colin Hamston, and questioned him, trying to get him on side.
He claimed he had referred several parents onto the school who felt the assembly about queer people existing “wasn’t appropriate”.
However it soon became clear he was lying - and that he was the only complaint.
Meanwhile Arthur got closer to Marshall, despite the schoolboy insisting he was confused the night before and isn’t interested in him.
The boys went on a bike ride together to clear the air and had a great time, until Marshall’s dad arrived.
He was revealed to be the homophobic parent and Governor and he wasn’t pleased to find his son with Arthur.
Unfortunately for him, Laurel caught his judgement and let rip at him.
“Councillor,” she said calling him over.
“You couldn’t have made it anymore obvious. ‘Some parents’. It’s you, isn’t it? You’re the bigot.
“Why don’t you just have the courage to own it? Oh and don’t ever, ever look at my son like that again.”
Viewers were left cheering at Laurel for sticking up for Arthur.
One wrote: "Laurel is so right I'm so happy this is a storyline omg."
A second said: "I love that Laurel isn't going to give up."
