Happy Valley fans convinced they’ve worked out the show’s ‘killer twist’ ending after spotting ‘clue’

HAPPY Valley has become must-watch TV over the last few weeks but the final episode is fast approaching and theories as to how it will all end has reached fever pitch.

In the penultimate episode, which aired on Sunday, things got even more intense when killer Tommy Lee Royce headed to a hideout after escaping court.

With the help of pal Darius, Tommy was preparing for a new life in Spain complete with a new passport for him, but also son Ryan.

But it seems he couldn't resist trying to finish things off with Catherine (Sarah Lanchashire) and asked Darius to get him a gun.

While Darius refused this request, asking him to 'let it go', it's clear there's murder on Tommy's mind.

Contacting Ryan through a computer game username, Tommy offered him to move to Marbella. Ryan said he'd think about it, but fans think he's setting the killer up for a trap.

In fact, they think Ryan is luring Tommy into a false sense of security so he could kill his dad himself to protect his grandmother Catherine.

However, that comes with its own tragedies, as Catherine – who's raised Ryan since the death of her daughter Becky – has long been terrified her grandson is capable of turning out like his dad.

"Any one else reckon Ryan will kill Tommy before he gets to Catherine?" one fan wrote.

"I don’t want Ryan to kill Tommy. I don’t want anyone to ever be able to say he’s like his dad," said a second.

"My theory, Tommy tries to kill Catherine, potentially by manipulating Ryan, but Ryan will kill Tommy," added a third.

"Tommy Lee Royce gives me the heebie jeebies," noting a fourth. "My betting is Ryan is going to save Catherine’s life in the finale and kill him off in the impending struggle."

Bosses are determined to keep fans guessing til the end - with FIVE potential endings filmed to prevent leaks.

With only one episode left to go, there's not much longer they have to wait to find out.

Happy Valley concludes this Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
