EastEnders’ James Bye renews wedding vows after 10 years with wife Victoria in St Lucia – but it does not go to plan
EASTENDERS star James Bye and his wife have renewed their wedding vows in the tropical Caribbean – but it almost ended in disaster.
The 38-year-old actor, who is best known for playing Martin Fowler on the hit BBC soap, and his wife Victoria, 40, were on a St Lucia beach in front of friends and family after 10 years of marriage.
She said: “Up I got… gingerly opening the blinds…
“And. Dear. God. It was absolutely chucking it down. Rivers ran haphazardly down the hill, winds lashed against the sea… And all we could do was laugh.”
However, their special day had a happy ending.
She added: “We stood dejectedly looking out at the crashing waves, and then – and I kid you not – a rainbow appeared. It landed right in the middle of the altar on the beach.
“And slowly, the clouds melted away. All was calm. And I walked down the aisle, Edward [nine] holding my arm. Louis [six] and Hugo [three] standing with James smiling at me. Hand on bump.”
Fans reacted quickly, with one commending Victoria for her positivity and another saying: “Wishing you both many more years of happiness with your beautiful family.”
This comes after the couple’s spring 2012 wedding, which was also overcast with bad weather – forcing half of the guests to be “stuck in snow drifts” and bridesmaids “nearly freezing to death”.
On New Year’s Day, James and Victoria announced they were expecting their fourth child after trying for three years.
In , they can be seen all smiles in their kitchen, with Victoria putting her left arm around James and with the baby scan photo in her right hand.
Alongside fans, his EastEnders family and 2022 Strictly Come Dancing cast members commented their congratulations.
Lacey Turner, who plays Martin Fowler’s ex-wife Stacey Slater, left a red heart, while his Strictly dance partner Amy Dowden said: “So happy for your beautiful family xxxx.”
