Coronation Street shock as show legend dies and is secretly replaced onscreen
CORONATION Street has been secretly mourning the death of a show legend - The Platt's family dog.
The beloved canine, called David, had been a feature on the show for five years when he was .
Actor Jack P Shepherd revealed to The Sun: “We had to get a new David because the old one died!
"He was old, though, bless him. The new one is settling in and he’s not bitten me.
"On his first day he was nervous and shaking.
"A few people were saying he looks like a Schnauzer but he’s not. He’s just had his hair cut to look like it.”
David the dog was a stray on the Cobbles in 2017 and was taken in by the Platt family.
Jack, who plays hairdresser David Platt, recently confirmed in a TikTok video that the dog had been recast and a new pooch would be playing the role - but failed to mention the reason why.
Jack said in a video on Corrie's TikTok account: "So this is David, the new David the dog.
"He is actually called David, or Dave. He’s the brand new one and he’s done his first day, two scenes, he’s very tired."

He went onto say: "He’s going to go home for some treats now. But he’s very good, very well behaved."
The pooch first arrived at the Platt household when one of David's clients at Audrey's salon, Mrs Moss, unexpectedly died.
Mrs Moss was a huge fan of David, and named her companion after him, making it fitting that David took him in following her passing.
