Abi Webster to be rocked by blast from the past in Coronation Street shock
AFTER enduring troubling times, Abi Webster has finally been given a break.
But nothing is ever smooth sailing in Coronation Street and she'll soon face a bitter reminder of her past.
Recent months have been particularly hard for the mechanic played by Sally Carman.
Fortunately for her, she finally managed to prove she was a fit mother for her son Alfie, whom she unexpectedly gave birth to following a one night stand with the late Imran Habeeb.
Abi's life in Weatherfield has since remained quiet as she reconnected with her husband Kevin Webster (portrayed by Michael Le Vell).
Speaking to The Sun, Corrie boss Iain MacLeod revealed Abi's break from all the turmoil will be coming to an end, although she's set for "happiness more than sadness."
More Corrie
In 2023, Abi will take on a bystander role as she's embroiled in another storyline.
"She becomes a key confidante to one of the youngsters in the big socially responsible issue story", Iain said.
"She becomes a surrogate mum and has big dilemmas about
whose version of events she believes and who she sides with."
More importantly, Abi will have to face her own chaotic past with addiction.

"This causes her to investigate her own history of substance misuse over the years", Iain added.
But that's not all - Abi will also reconnect with her past with the help of an old friend who rocks up the cobbles.
And viewers may be surprised as the character "transpires to be the last possible person you'd expect to find in her
backstory."
Overall, fans of the Manchester-based drama will be treated to "an odd couple story" as Abi's old pal is her "polar opposite."

One thing is almost certain, the new storyline will be a stark contrast with the heavy plots Abi has been involved in 2022.
These involved an intense custody battle for Alfie as well as a shocking death.
Prior to this, Abi was heartbroken when her son Seb died after a brutal assault.
"We are very keen to see her happy", Iain continued.
"She must have felt rung out by the end of all those big stories I’d be surprised if there were any tears left!"
"She's been through such tragedy."
