Patsy said she had come down with pneumonia and was rushed to Accident and Emergency.

The TV star - who The Sun confirmed had joined the BBC One soap last month - has now been forced to miss out on a skiing holiday while she recovers.

She wrote: "No skiing for me as I’ve got pneumonia so spa and steam and thermals up to my eyeballs.

"Thank you to the amazing NHS for taking care of me on the 29th of December at A&E in Southport you are the true heroes on this planet. Health is paramount."

Fans flocked to Instagram to wish her better.

Alongside the picture she posted of her platter of cheeses and meats, fans and friends flocked to comment.

One wrote: "Get well soon."

Another said: "Oh no Patsy... speedy recovery."

Patsy's post comes just a week after she treated fans by stripping down naked for a bath snap ahead of her debut.

She looked radiant as she went make-up free for the look, pulling her blonde locks up into a messy bun.

She sat at the edge of the bath, her hands out of the water on the edge, as she looked up at the camera.

The steamy snap saw her cover her assets with clever camera angles, as her arms made sure her chest was hidden.

She added two Santa emojis in the caption and teased her Instagram fans with a "Merry Christmas."

Meanwhile fans were over the moon that Patsy would be joining the EastEnders cast as Lola Pearce's mum Emma Harding.

Patsy, who previously starred in Emmerdale and Holby City, will appear on screen for the first time next month.

Her character Emma will be seen returning to Walford to reunite with Lola for the first time since leaving the three year old with her dad.

The pair will get to know one another again as Lola struggles following her brain tumour diagnosis.

Patsy said of joining EastEnders: “I’m so excited to be visiting Walford for this storyline. It has always been a dream of mine to appear in EastEnders.

“The cast, producers, writers and crew have been wonderful, and I’ve had a ball. Thank you so much for having me”
