RUTH Langsford has opened up on husband Eamonn Holmes' chronic health problems admitting it has "been a terrible time".
The presenter spoke about Eamonn's battle to get well on ITV's Loose Women after fans became concerned for him.
Ruth, 62, shared with her panellists: "He was struggling with bulging discs.
"Then he had a back operation, which you know was always that nerve-wracking moment isn't it?
"And then a few days after that he fell downstairs and broke his shoulder.
"So it's been a really difficult time, so I took some time off really to be at home and look after him."

In another blow Eamonn’s mother recently passed away, with Ruth adding: “And then very sadly his mum passed away in the middle of all that so it's been a terrible time.
"It's a lot of bad luck. And these things come along, and you're like, 'Anything else?'"
Ruth’s co-stars tried to comfort her, and Carol McGiffin said: “You know what? 2023 can’t get any worse then, can it?”
Eamonn last week told of his frustration after he had become reliant on others to do the simple things.

The presenter currently has to rely on using crutches to help him walk.
In a heartbreaking personal health update on Twitter the GB News star said: "Worked hard at my physio this morning.
"Very tiring but I've now sat on my backside for 5 hours and feel bad about doing nothing."
He continued: "Lack of mobility & depending on others stops me doing really simple things.
"For peace of mind I feel another round of foot exercises coming on."
Eamonn has yet to return to work on GB News and the star made his first public appearance in months when he attended Piers Morgan's Christmas party.
