Three Coronation Street legends sign new deals to keep them on the cobbles for another year – and fans will be thrilled
CORONATION Street legends Alan Halsall, Andy Whyment and Jack P Shepherd have signed bumper new contracts to stay in the soap.
The actors are said to have "jumped at the chance" to extend their contract for another 12-months.

ITV bosses are thrilled that the trio have agreed to remain on the cobbles for another year.
A source told us: "Alan Halsall, Andy Whyment and Jack P Shepherd have all been handed new deals to keep them on the cobbles through 2023.
"Bosses are thrilled, they're show legends and it wouldn't be the same without them.
"They all jumped at the chance - they love their jobs.

"Fans will be glad they're signed on for another year and not going anywhere."
ITV had no comment when approached by The Sun.
It's been an eventful few months for their characters - with no doubt there will plenty more drama in store for 2023.
Alan, who plays mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, was at the centre of this year's Christmas special as he finally tied the knot with former flame Fiz Stape.

While Jack, who portrays hairdresser David Platt, has had his hands full with troubled son Max amid a grooming storyline.
Andy, who has now racked up close to 22 years playing Kirk Sutherland, has also been busy delivering his comedy gold one-liners.
Last year, the stalwart told bosses he’d happily sign on for the rest of his career if he could - because he never wants to quit Weatherfield.
At the time an insider told us: “Andy just loves Corrie. It is in his blood and he never wants to go anywhere else.
“Lots of other actors get itchy feet and want to go on to do other stuff and some think they want to star in 'higher quality' telly.
“But for Andrew, there is no higher-quality telly. It’s the nation’s favourite soap – a national institution that’s been on the box for 60 years, so why would he want to go anywhere else?
"He told the execs he’d sign for life if they’d let him!”
And while fan favourite Andy – who earns a six-figure salary – might wish for a football manager-style extended deal, ITV bosses only offer a maximum of a 12-month contract to stars.

The character first joined the soap in October 2000.
Alan first started in Coronation Street back in 1998, while Jack joined the cast in 2000 at just 12-years-old.
