EastEnders fans call out Lily Slater’s ‘vile, heartbreaking’ pregnancy storyline – raging ‘I hate this!’
NEWS of Lily Slater's pregnancy caused a shockwave in soap land as it kicked off on New Year's Day.
Many EastEnders fans have taken to social media to express their thoughts on the storyline - and an online storm ensued.
BBC One viewers were left in floods of tears when Stacey Slater (portrayed by Lacey Turner) was told her daughter Lily was pregnant.
The shocking discovery followed a carbon monoxide leak at the Slaters', during which the 12-year-old girl played by Lillia Turner was seen vomiting.
During last night's trip to the Square, Lily was severely distraught when she found out she was pregnant.
The police questioned the owner of Stacey's Baps, fearing her young daughter may have faced abuse at home.

Stacey, on the other hand, was determined to find out who the father of the baby was.
Unfortunately, Lily is keeping secrets but fans wasted no time before coming up with their own theories.
The storyline has wreaked havoc amongst EastEnders viewers as many shared their thoughts on social media - and not everyone is on the same page.
Some are defending the story, arguing that the issue is too important to avoid.

On the other hand, other viewers believe the storyline is already taking too dark of a turn.
"A little reminder that months of planning has gone into Lily’s storyline, including full informed consent from Lillia and her parents", one viewer commented, defending the storyline.
Another echoed: "They write about stories based on real life and unfortunately this happens a awful lot!"
"And I think it’s a good eye opener for parents to be more vigilant on their kids and check social media etc…"
A third soap fan agreed: "As for poor Lily being pregnant, that was a shock but unfortunately it does happen in real life. I'm wondering who the dad could be? Or even if she was sexually abused?"
"It'll be interesting to see where this story goes, it'll be difficult for the whole Slater family", another Tweeted.
A handful of viewers complained about the story.

"I really hate this lily storyline in EastEnders - especially after Micks storyline where Katy Lewis manipulated and groomed a 12 year old child for sex", one of them wrote.
They added: "I know it happens but I just think they should have done it when they were 14 minimum. Preteens is not cool at all."
"Stacey being told Lily’s pregnant…..I HATE THIS ALREADY", another fumed.
This wouldn't be the first time teen pregnancy is tackled by a soap.
Corrie's Sarah Platt is one of the most famous examples, much like Sonia Fowler in Walford.
Over in Emmerdale, Amelia Spencer had to adapt to motherhood in a flash.
